This tutorial is directed at construction of Plan 1144 - Santa Fe Control Tower, but would be of benefit to any project requiring an open tread design stairway.
A simple and inexpensive device for holding small parts while painting can be made with a scrap piece of plywood or particle board.
Invert several strips of masking tape, folding the ends over and fastening to each end of the board. Tape at one end of the board first. With one end of the lengths held securely to the board, tape the opposite end, pulling slightly against the secured end. Tape every few inches or so to hold the inverted tape securely.
The masking tape will hold small parts securely for brush or spray painting, without obscuring any of the face area of the parts. Once dry, the parts can be peeled off. A good quality masking tape should not leave any residue on the parts.
